so far i think it's total shit and i think some AI developers are being shady about scraping sites and videos for information. I've seen a few videos were people would not admit to what data their AI model uses.
How do you guys feel about AI?

I pretty much agree. Current consumer-grade AI is utter bullshit.
It is compounding a problem we already had: crappy websites with zero useful content that plague search engine results. It used to be bad.
Now, machine generated sites are making the most common subjects unbrowsable because anything useful will be buried undr a sea of AI crap.

of it is not very accurate.

I find it interesting. No idea what will happen, but I feel like it's becoming more known so by and by it's just going to at least get more interesting over time.

The worst is the AI phone systems. I've wasted as much as 3 HOURS with that at LOWES over an order gone wrong once. I got 'forwarded' by 1 human (finally reached but not allowing me to exolain the full problem. Twice I was forwarded to the same person and 3 times to another same person.
Finally I was sent to tier 3 and it got resolved. The military systems like TSP are almost impossible to navigate,

"I'm sorry, I am having problems understanding you. Please try your call again later" *click*
They get stuck listening to a "Virtual Assistant" ask what they're calling about. If they try to leave a message, the assistant lets them ramble, then usually says "I'm sorry the person you're calling can't take your call right now"
I wonder how hard it would be to come up with an AI voice system that just wastes a scammer's time...

I have found that when calling Xfinity for tech support, if I say
"Terminate My Account"
I get a human on the line real quick.
Honestly, I was hopeful that AI could help us weed out the rubbish from the web. But instead, it's like they've thrown more gasoline onto the fire. And now we're stuck with even fewer options, forced to rely on obscure search engines just to find something halfway decent. It's a vicious cycle of mediocrity and frustration.
I wish there was some way to put an end to this AI apocalypse or at least create a filter to sift through all the trash. But for now, we're stuck playing a constant game of cat and mouse with the endless flood of
useless information, hoping for a glimpse of something worthwhile.
Cheers to the digital struggle, I guess. *lifts glass in mock toast*

Cute but not related.

I think it's time to move to AT&T Fiber, if anything for symmetric
service (I'm 600/10 here).

Unfortunately, for me, Xfinity is the only hi-speed internet available in my county which I suppose is another reason they're so unreasonable here.
But in the last 6 months someone has been laying fiber in my neighborhood... Someone told me it was ShenTel but that night not be correct. It will still be good to have competition...
what sucks is where i'm at, all that line is laid. BUT, there's agreements that the different providers have about territory. So i can't switch in most cases.

I thought division of territory by competitors would be illegal under antitrust laws?

it would seem they're allowed to get away with it from a practical standpoint .. running two sets of coax cabling everywhere would be
crazy, DSL piggybacks on the phone system but it's still entirely local and single-provider (even if in your area multiple companies are
allowed to re-sell it)
Mind you, this was back in the 2000s, with hosted email, a news server,
tilde web space and their own DNS. Sign a form and you got all ports

What do you use? I find that Wiby and Mojeek are pretty good for avoiding thWiby and Mojeek are nice. You should also try Marginalia and Searchmysite.
