AFAIK, Recent versions of FreeDOS should support a USB drive formatted
as FAT/FAT32. Should show up as long as it's plugged in before booting.
Not sure if there's a way to hot mount though, been a while.
The only way I've gotten this to work is:
1. Power off the PC.
2. Plug in the USB drive.
3. Power on the PC.
4. Mine has a power on menu that you can get in to and I have to tell it to boot from the hard drive - NOT the USB drive.
5. FreeDOS boots up normally.
6. Now, my USB drive is on D: (and E: and F: if you have multiple partitions).
Of course, to remove the USB drive, you need to power off the computer.
I don't believe FreeDOS supports hot mounting of USB drives.
